Quarterback Luke Bottari started for Utah in his debut with the Utes. Bottari scored his first career touchdown on a two-yard keeper on Utah's opening drive.
It marked Utah's fifth touchdown this season on an opening drive and the sixth time the Utes have scored first.
Running back Ja'Quinden Jackson reached 15 carries during the third quarter; it is his most in a game since Oct. 21 at USC (26).
Wide receiver Luca Caldarella had a 16-yard reception during the third quarter; it was a fourth-down conversion and a career-long catch for Caldarella.
Bottari added a one-yard rushing score during the third quarter; it makes him the first Utah quarterback since Jason Shelley (2018 vs. Oregon) to have two rushing touchdowns in his first Utah start.
As a team, Utah eclipsed 100 rushing yards for the 35th time in the last 37 games, it dates back to the Washington State game in 2021.

Defense
Defensive end Connor O'Toole had a strip-sack on Colorado's opening drive, with the fumble recovered by fellow defensive end Van Fillinger. It is O'Toole's third sack in the last four games, his first career forced fumble and Fillinger's first career recovery.
It marked the eighth time this season that Utah held its opponent scoreless on a game-opening drive.
After missing last week's game at Arizona, safety Cole Bishop earned his third sack of the season. It was his first since the Weber State game.
Returning from injury, Karene Reid started at linebacker. Reid's last game action came at Washington.
Linebacker Levani Damuni reached seven tackles during the third quarter; Damuni has seven-plus tackles in four of Utah's last five games and five-plus tackles in five straight games (all starts).
Special Teams
Playing on the kickoff team, Jason Siaosi made his Utah debut. Siaosi previously spent the 2018-21 at Southern Virginia.
