Liz Prince returned to Utah's athletics staff on April 1, 2019, in the role of associate athletics director for sport administration and student-athlete well-being. In this role she facilitates the Student-Athlete Well-Being Program, oversees Utah’s student-athlete development initiatives and serves as the sport supervisor for the Utes' cross-country, track & field, soccer, men's tennis, women's tennis programs, and the spirit team.
Among Prince's responsibilities, she also serves as the athletics department’s liaison to the Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action, is in charge of the University’s efforts to ensure compliance with the NCAA’s Board of Governors Sexual Violence Policy requirements. Additionally, Prince works with the Utes with Wings advisory board to support the fundraising efforts and support of Utah’s women’s sport programs. Prince has also joined campus-wide efforts by serving on both the McCluskey Center for Violence Prevention’s advisory board and previously on the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion’s Committee for Racial Equity.
Prince initially began working in Utah Athletics in August of 2014 as a compliance coordinator before moving to an investigator and consultant position with the University’s Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action (OEO). During Prince’s three years with OEO, she served as an educator, presenter, and investigator for all campus-wide efforts with the University’s nondiscrimination policies; which included federal legislation of Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Title VII. During this time, Prince also worked with the University Hospital on implementing its Behavioral Emergency Response plan as part of the planning team and served as the education subcommittee chair for the Transgender Patient Care Working Group to help foster a more inclusive healthcare culture.
Before moving to Utah, Prince worked in the Belmont University athletics compliance office while receiving her Master’s degree in Sport Administration. Prince also worked as an assistant district attorney and in private practice in her home state of North Carolina before returning to intercollegiate athletics. She earned her law degree from Western Michigan University and her undergraduate degree in communications from North Carolina State University. At N.C. State, Prince worked as a student manager for the women’s basketball program led by Hall of Fame head coach Kay Yow.
