Upcoming Event: Track & Field versus NCAA First Round on May 28, 2026

SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah track and field team will participate in the Utah Classic hosted by Utah State University on Wednesday. Utah State, Weber State, and BYU will compete along with Utah.
Head Coach Mike Jones originally planned for the women to compete only but has since decided to have the men compete also to give them another opportunity to perform. The men will compete in distance events only.
The Utah Classic will be a team scoring meet, the first for Utah this outdoor season.
Over the weekend, nine athletes competed in the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Stanford University. Amy Tidwell placed first in two events (long jump and 400 meters) and Stacey Rhineer won the triple jump. Jeff Simonich qualified for the NCAA outdoor championship in the 5,000 meters.
This is the last regular season competition for Utah before the Western Athletic Conference outdoor championship begins May 20-22 in Fort Collins, Colo.
