SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Utah women's soccer team falls to 8-4 after a 2-1 loss to Brigham Young.
In a physical game resulting in 19 fouls and one yellow card by each team, BYU out shot the Utes 14-11 (12-4 shots-on-goal). Utah took 11 corner kicks to BYU's three. Staci Burt scored the first goal of the match at 9:26 when she headed in a corner kick by Lorrie Tipton. This marks Burt's 10th goal this season and bringing her season point total to 24. BYU came back to score at 44:14 when Maren Hendershot tapped the ball past goalkeeper Tawni Martineau. Hendershot sealed the BYU victory when she scored another solo shot in the last 10 minutes of the game. Overall, Martineau made 10 saves and allowed two.
The Utes return to Ute Soccer Field Sun., Oct. 11 at 1:00 p.m. as they take on Hawai'i.
