This week:
The Utah women's soccer team (9-6, 1-3 WAC) hosts San Diego State and UNLV. The Utes play the Aztecs Thurs., Oct. 22 at 3:00 p.m. The Utah-UNLV game is scheduled for Sat., Oct. 24 at 1:00 p.m. Both games will be played on Ute Soccer Field. San Diego State leads the WAC Pacific Division with a 13-1, 4-0 record. The Utes defeated the Aztecs last season 4-2. UNLV is ranked fourth in the division with a 8-6-1, 1-2-1 record.
Utes to Watch:
All-WAC candidate Staci Burt leads the Utes in goals and overall points. The junior has 10 goals and five assists for 25 points. Burt holds the Utah record for individual career points at 69. She ranks third in the WAC in scoring and goals and is 15th in assists. Sophomore Lorrie Tipton added a goal to her team-best six assists last weekend to boost her team rank to second with 12 points. Tipton is third in the WAC in assists. Tara McNeil scored her third goal of the season bringing her point total to 10. Ute goalkeeper Tawni Martineau has recorded 80 saves and allowed 22 goals for a goals against average of 1.517. Martineau is sixth in the WAC in goalkeeping.
Last Week:
The Utah women's soccer team fell to 9-6 (1-3 WAC) following losses to Fresno State (2-0) and San Jose State (3-2). Against SJSU, Tara McNeil and Lorrie Tipton scored goals from assists by Amy Kofoed and Jessica Narajowski.
