LUBBOCK, Texas - The University of Utah's women's volleyball team shut down SMU in three games (15-12, 15-10, 17-15). Utah improves to 1-1 overall, 0-0 in the Mountain West. SMU drops to 1-1 overall.
Utah posted a .244 hitting percentage in the match. Sophomore middle blocker McKelle Stilson continues to lead Utah's offense as she totaled 18 kills for a .333 hitting percentage. Sophomore transfer Adrianne Bradley recorded her second double-double of the season, posting 17 kills and 13 digs. Teammate Jen Snow-Richards hit .212 in the match and added 14 kills to the Utes' cause. Senior setter Graciela Torres totaled 51 assists and 12 digs. Torres posted a .250 hitting percentage in the match. Sophomore transfer Alisa Geddes led the team in digs, with 14.
SMU's Kelly Klecka had 13 kills for a .222 hitting percentage, while teammate Melissa Godwin added 12 kills. Erin Pryor totaled 10 kills and 11 digs and Leslie Olson recorded 28 assists and 10 digs. The Mustangs posted a .200 hitting percentage in the match.
The Utes second match of the day is against Wright State at 5:30 p.m. (CMT). Utah will play North Carolina State at 1:00 p.m., and its host Texas Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 4.
