SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah's women's volleyball team beat Weber State, 3-1 (15-9, 8-15, 15-6, 15-12) at Crimson Court this evening.
Utah posted a .250 hitting percentage in the match. Sophomore transfer Alisa Geddes led the team with 17 kills for a .268 hitting percentage and posted 9 digs. Outside hitter Jen Snow-Richards posted 15 kills for a .542 hitting percentage. McKelle Stilson added 14 kills, while teammate Brooke Barton totaled 12 digs. Senior setter Graciela Torres totaled 60 assists, 10 kills and 11 digs.
Weber State's Stephanie Johnson and Holly Alsup totaled 12 kills each. Alsup added 13 digs in the match. Laura Black posted 10 kills and six total blocks. Teammate April Taylor added 12 digs and six total blocks. Weber State posted a .126 hitting percentage in the match.
"I think it is really good that we pulled out the win because it was really ugly. It was good that we were able to win that match and sometimes you've got to take those kinds of wins. As a group we've got to come more prepared, but we worked hard, and tonight, different individuals really carried us," said Launiere.
