Utah Volleyball Ends Win Streak

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- The University of Utah women's volleyball team lost to the Utah State Aggies, in four games, 15-8, 8-15, 12-15, 10-15 at the Smith Spectrum on Tues., Oct. 10. Utah drops to 13-3 overall, 4-1 in the MWC. Utah State improves to 13-6 on the season, 4-2 in the Big West Conference.
Senior Jen Snow-Richards led the team with 11 kills and 10 digs. Outside hitter Lenka Urbanova totaled 10 kills and led the Utes with 13 digs. Setter Lucie Turkova posted 49 assists and 13 digs, while Alisa Geddes added nine kills and 10 digs. As a team Utah posted a .139 hitting percentage and 10 total team blocks.
For the Aggies, Amy Crosbie racked up 19 kills and eight digs. Melissa Schoepf totaled 12 kills, nine digs and five total blocks. Rochelle Currier had 11 kills and 13 digs. Chelsi Neves posted 51 assists and 11 digs, while Heather Olmstead led the team with 14 digs. Utah State hit for .181 and added 13 total team blocks in the match.
"Utah State is a legitimate Top 25 team and they've got a great home advantage," said Head Coach Beth Launiere. "We are the third ranked team that they've beat here. I thought we competed well, but we just need to get a little more consistant. We've played both up and down this year and we competed well yonight. They are a very good team and play very well at home."

On Fri., Oct. 13, Utah hosts MWC opponent New Mexico at 7:00 p.m. (MST). Utah will take on Air Force at home on Sat., Oct. 14, at 7:00 p.m. (MST). On Fri., Oct. 20, Utah travels to Las Vegas, Nev. to take on the Rebels of UNLV.
Utah will match-up with San Diego State on Sat., Oct. 21 in San Diego, Calif. Utah is back at home on Fri., Oct. 27, when they take on the Rams of Colorado State at 7:00 p.m.
On Sat., Oct. 28, Utah will face MWC opponent Wyoming at Crimson Court at 7:00 p.m. Utah will match-up again with BYU, in Provo, Utah, at 7:00 p.m. (MST) on Fri., Nov. 3. Utah tavels to Colorado Springs, Colo. on Fri., Nov. 10, taking on the Air Force Falcons at 7:00 p.m. (MST). On Sat., Nov. 11, Utah will face MWC opponent New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M. at 7:00 p.m. (MST).
