SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Travis Spivey scored a career-high 14 points as Utah defeated Concordia of California 88-37 Tuesday night.
Chris Burgess had 13 points and Trace Caton added 10 for the Utes (7-5), whose first seven baskets were layups or dunks.
The tallest Eagle in the starting lineup is 6-foot-4 while all of the members of the Utes' front line stand at least 6-foot-9.
Rhett Soliday and Lance Marquardt each scored nine points for Corcordia (6-4), an NAIA school that had won six games in a row.
The Utes, who were ranked 12th in mid-November, had lost four of their last six contests.
Caton had five points in a 15-0 run that turned an 18-12 game into a 33-12 rout after Nate Althoff's dunk with 8:25 remaining in the first half.
Utah led 51-21 at halftime after outrebounding Concordia 26-9. The Utes shot 62 percent in the first half despite connecting on just 1-of-8 on 3-pointers
Spivey, a transfer who started as a freshman at Georgia Tech, finally had a breakout game after struggling in the Utes' motion offense so far this season.
Averaging just 3.5 points going into Tuesday's game, the junior point guard made all six of his field goal attempts, grabbed eight rebounds and handed out three assists in just 20 minutes of play.
Sixteen Utes played, including three walk-ons, as Utah held the Eagles to just 20 percent shooting.
