Noting the Utes
- Utah had the best season in its five-year history in 1999 with a 13-7 record. The Utes also went 5-1 in the Mountain West Conference to finish in a three-way tie for the regular season title. Utah also advanced to the semifinals of the MWC Tournament, losing 4-3 to tournament champion and NCAA Tournament qualifier Brigham Young.
- In the Mountain West Conference, the Utes ranked second in shots (18.60/gm), third in points (4.85/gm), third in goals (1.85/gm), third in assists (1.15/gm), third in goals allowed per game (1.20/gm), third in saves (6.00/gm) and third in shutouts (7).
- Utah's 2000 schedule includes four games against teams that went to the NCAA Tournament in 1999. Montana and San Diego State received bids but were eliminated in the first round. Brigham Young and San Diego both advanced to the second round. Also on the Utes' 2000 schedule are South Carolina and Georgia, which were bubble teams for the 1999 NCAA Tournament after participating the previous year.
- Amy Freeman Winslow was named the 1999 Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year. She led the Utes to a 13-7 record last season, bringing her five-year record at Utah to 53-39-4. Freeman Winslow was also honored as the WAC Pacific Division Coach of the Year in 1997.
- Junior midfielder Amy Kofoed was named first team all-West by SoccerBuzz and first team all-Mountain West Conference in 1999. Kofoed ranked first in the Mountain West Conference in shots per game (4.25), fourth in points per game (1.40) and second in goals per game (0.65) last season. She also scored six game-winning goals to lead the MWC. Kofoed led the '99 Utes in goals scored (13), game-winning goals (6), shots (85) and points (28).
- Sophomore forward Shauna Gurr ranked fifth in the Mountain West Conference in shots per game (3.30), ninth in points per game (0.90) and seventh in goals per game (0.45) in 1999. Gurr was second on the team in goals scored (9), second in shots (66), second in game-winning goals (3) and third in points (18). She will be a team co-captain in 2000.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Hills was named to the NSCAA West Region third team. SoccerBuzz also named her third team all-West and an honorable mention freshman All-American. Named first team all-Mountain West Conference and to the league all-freshman team, Hills was tied for second in the MWC saves (114) and ranked second in shutouts (7). Hills will be a team co-captain in 2000.
- Sophomore midfielder Kate Tate was named to the all-West freshman team by SoccerBuzz and to the Mountain West Conference all-tournament team. Tate was fourth on the team in goals scored (3), fourth in points (6) and fifth in shots (34).
- Junior Alli Cerruti was second on the team in assists (4) and tied for fourth in points (6).
- Sophomore defender Lesa Zollinger was named second team all-Mountain West Conference. Zollinger played in 18 games last season, starting 12.
- Utah was honored with an NSCAA College Team Academic Award in 1999. The Utes maintained a cumulative 3.28 team GPA to rank 12th in the nation.
- Fourteen Utes were named academic all-conference in 1999: Mondis Ariazand, Dana Bolton, Tonya Dansereau, Sandi Fouts, Maren Harper, Courtney Hills, Bernie Hogan, Cortney Johanson, Amy Kofoed, Megan Maxwell, Kim Naylor, Jordan Sleight, Katie Tate and Lesa Zollinger.
- Utah was at its best offensively in the first half last season. The Utes doubled the number of goals scored by the opposition (18-9) in the first period of play and had a 182-114 advantage in shots. In the second half, Utah's advantage in goals (16-14) and shots (171-151) diminished.
