LAST WEEK IN REVIEW: Junior forward Amy Kofoed scored her second game-winning goal of the weekend, this one coming in a 3-2 overtime win at Georgia, to extend the Utah women's soccer (6-3-1) win streak to five games. Kofoed put the Utes out front in the 49th minute on an unassisted goal. Georgia's Carolyn Cayard scored on consecutive penalty kicks in the 80th and 83rd minutes to give the Bulldogs a 2-1advantage. With 1:08 remaining in the game, sophomore Katie Tate rebounded a shot >from freshman Amber Brower to force the extra period. Kofoed put the ball past Nicole Williams, the Southeastern Conference's career shutout leader, at 109:13 to give Utah its first OT win in four games this season. Utah out shot Georgia 16-11 and had nine corner kick attempts to the Bulldogs zero. Ute goalkeeper Courtney Hills had three saves to earn the win. The Utah women's soccer (5-3-1) team braved a wicked rain and fought off South Carolina (2-7) to extend its win streak to four games, 2-1 at Stone Stadium. Under heavy rain conditions that produced a soaked field, Utah's leading scorer sophomore Katie Tate drew first blood in the 32nd minute from eight yards out. The Gamecocks scored the equalizer in the 63rd minute, but junior Amy Kofoed gave Utah its first win of the season when the Utes have been down or tied. Kofoed dribbled the game-winner down field on a breakaway and sneaked the ball into the back right corner with three minutes to play.
TAKE NOTE: Amy Kofoed scored two game-winning goals this weekend. Kofoed totaled three goals in the two games, while Katie Tate added two. Sophomore defender Maren Harper sat out the Georgia game with a broken nose suffered at SC Friday.
