Fort Collins, Colo. - The University of Utah women's volleyball team lost in three games (15-1, 15-8, 15-10) to the No. 3 ranked Colorado State Rams in Fort Collins, Colo., on Sat., Sept. 30. Utah moves to 11-2 overall, 3-1 in the MWC. Colorado State improves to 16-1 overall, 3-0 in MWC play
Freshman Kim Turner led the Utes with eight kills and four total blocks. McKelle Stilson totaled seven kills and Lenka Urbanova added six kills. Alisa Geddes led the team with nine digs and senior setter Lucie Turkova posted 27 assists. Utah hit for .042 and recorded five total team blocks.
Angela Knopf led Colorado State with 13 kills for a .611 hitting percentage. Teammates Courtney Cox and Kris Swartzendruber each totaled 11 kills and Allison Peckham posted 37 assists. The Rams had a .279 hitting percentage and added 14 total team blocks in the match.
"Colorado State is a very very good team," said Head Coach Beth Launiere. "They are a legitimate top five team in the country right now. They are very experienced, they don't make a lot of mistakes and they just flat out beat us. I'm glad that we showed character and came back and competed a lot better in game three."
UP NEXT: The Utes are back at home on Tues., Oct. 3, taking on Idaho State at 7:00 p.m. (MST). On Fri., Oct. 6, Utah hosts in-state rival Brigham Young at 7:00 p.m. (MST). Utah hits the road on Tues., Oct. 10, facing in-state rival Utah State at 7:00 p.m. (MST) in Logan, Utah. On Fri., Oct. 13, Utah hosts MWC opponent New Mexico at 7:00 p.m. (MST). Utah will take on Air Force at home on Sat., Oct. 14, at 7:00 p.m. (MST).
