THIS WEEK: The Ute Track and Field team competes at the Mountain State Invitational on Feb. 2-3, in Pocatello, Idaho.
LAST WEEK: At the Wilson Motor Invitational on January 27, Catherine Scalley, Tracy Hamblin, Chantel Goldsberry and Teren Jameson brought home first place finishes for the Utes. Scalley won the long jump in 18'01.75", Goldsberry the weight throw in 16.96m, Hamblin the 400-meter dash in 59.40 seconds and Jameson the one-mile run in 4:11.80 minutes.
HIGHLIGHTS: At the Wilson Motor Invitational, Teren Jameson ran his fastest time in the one-mile. The time was nearly three seconds faster than his first place finish last season at the MWC indoor championships (4:14.60). Jameson was one second shy of becoming an NCAA provisional qualifier for this season's NCAA indoor championships.
COACH JONES ON THE WOMEN'S TEAM:"Our women are progressing so much faster than I ever expected. Chantel Goldsberry and Audrey Kiser are doing an outstanding job in the weight throw, and April Jackson and Kristy Slade are competing strongly in the hurdles. The hurdles will be an even stronger competition for us once Alexandria Nash recovers from her leg injury."
COACH JONES ON THE MEN'S TEAM: "We set the one-mile run as a speed workout for the team, but Teren was too fast for everyone to keep up with. We're competing very well in the distance races. B.J. Christenson is doing a great job in the 5,000-meters. Freshman Colby Frazier has been a great surprise for the indoor season."
UP NEXT FOR THE UTES: The Utes compete at the Weber State Invitational in Ogden, Utah, on Feb. 10.
