Utah Senior Amy Kofoed was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week for her record-breaking performance against Wyoming last Thursday.
Kofoed set two Utah and Mountain West Conference single-match records against the Cowgirls. Her four goals broke the school record of three, formerly held by three-different players, and tied the MWC output set by Air Force's Beth Boyer earlier this season against Weber State. Kofoed added an assist against the Cowgirls for a total of nine points, surpassing Jacki Doman's school record of seven set in 1996 against Creighton. She also broke the MWC single-match record of eight points set by Boyer earlier this season.
With 43 career goals, Kofoed is the all-time leading scorer at Utah, breaking the record of 39 formerly held by Staci Burt who played last summer for the Carolina Courage. Her nine points against Wyoming boosted her career total to 103 total points, breaking the school record of 97 also held by Burt. Her 16 career assists is second all-time behind Burt's 21.
Kofoed has helped to lead the Utes to a 9-5-0 overall and 3-2-0 MWC record. Utah trails BYU by one game in the MWC standings. The Utes will play at Utah State on Thursday before heading to BYU to play the Cougars in a match which will decide the regular season conference title.
