THIS WEEK: The Ute track and field team competes at the Weber State Invitational in Ogden, Utah on February 10.
Chantel Goldsberry, Audrey Kiser, April Jackson and Teren Jameson compete at the Iowa State Track Classic in Ames, Iowa on Feb. 10. The classic is a qualifying meet for the NCAA indoor track and field championships.
LAST WEEK: At the Mountain State Invitational on Feb. 2-3, in Pocatello, Idaho three Utes finished first in their competitions. Kristy Slade in the long jump with 18'02.25", April Jackson tied for first in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.79 seconds and Teren Jameson in the one-mile run in 4:08.11 minutes.
HIGHLIGHTS: Slade set a career high of 18'02.25" in the long jump. Jameson broke his career best time (4:11.80) in the one-mile by more than three seconds with 4:08.11. Jackson set career highs in the 60-meter hurdles with 8.79 and in the high jump with 5'08.00".
COACH JONES ON THE WOMEN'S TEAM:"The women did a tremendous job over the weekend. The scores improved 90 percent from our previous meet."
COACH JONES ON THE MEN'S TEAM: "B.J. Christenson and Lion Gallegos shed 20 seconds off their average in the 5,000-meter run for career bests. Christenson posted a time of 15:10.44 and Gallegos posted 15:26.66."
NOTES: As of Feb. 7, Jameson ranks ninth in the NCAA in the one-mile run. His time of 4:08.11 was adjusted because of elevation rules to 4:03.58
UP NEXT FOR THE UTES: The MWC indoor championships will be held in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Feb. 23-24.
