ST. GEORGE, UTAH - After picking up a split on Friday, the Utah softball team dropped both games on Saturday. First they lost to Oklahoma State 9-8, then they fell to No. 6 Stanford 8-1. With the two losses Utah falls to 7-9 on the season.
Against Oklahoma State the Utes let a 7-4 lead turn into a 9-8 defeat by allowing OSU five runs in the sixth inning. Utah scored one in the seventh, but it wasn't enough. Lyndsey Trevis, Niki Hayhurst, and Christa Pfeninger all had two hits for the Utes. Pfeninger led the way going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Heather Bowlin allowed five earned runs in 5.1 inning while striking out five and walking four. Kristin Arbogast allowed four earned runs in 1.2 innings.
In the second game of the day, the No. 6 ranked Stanford Cardinal defeated the Utes 8-1. Stanford pitchers Maureen LeCocq and Jaime Forman-Lau held the Utes two just two hits. Trevis finished 1-for-3 with an RBI for Utah.
Bowlin pitched a complete game for the Utes, allowing eight runs (six earned) and 10 hits in seven innings. She added four strikeouts and three walks. The loss was her fourth of the season.
