LEXINGTON, Kentucky - The University of Utah women's soccer team fell to 2-2 after Friday's loss to the No. 15-ranked Kentucky Wildcats, 3-0.
Kentucky jumped out to an early lead, as the Wildcats' Susie Lezianowski left her mark on the scoreboard by booting in the first goal of the game, shortly after the five-minute mark. Kentucky would proceed to score two more goals (Keri Boyce, Jamie Hutchison) in the first period.
The second half proved to be a defensive struggle, as both teams were scoreless throughout the period. The first period attack by the Wildcats was enough to secure their victory over the Utes. Utah goalkeeper, Courtney Hills, was credited for five saves in the second half to give her a total of seven for the game.
Utah drops to 2-2 on the season, with their previous loss coming to Florida, who is ranked 16th in the Soccer Times Coaches rankings. Kentucky improved their undefeated record to 6-0.
The Utes will continue their road-trip by taking on Miami University in Oxford, Ohio on Sunday, Sept. 23. The RedHawks are 4-2 on the season. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (EDT).
