THIS WEEK: After playing four of their first five games on the road, the University of Utah women's soccer team will be back at home for this weeks action. The Utes, who have earned a 3-2-0 record are currently leading the Mountain West Conference overall standings.
Utah will host Boston University (4-1-1) on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. and Arizona (3-1-1) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Ute Field.
Preview: The Utes will endure tough matches against Weber State and Portland in the first week of October, before beginning conference play on Sept. 11 at San Diego State.
Reviewing Last Week: With the last two scheduled home matches being cancelled, the Utes once again took to the road. On Sept. 21, the team travelled to Lexington, Ky. to face off against the No. 15-ranked Kentucky Wildcats. Kentucky's offensive attack gave them a 3-0 win over the Utes.
After the loss, Utah faced off against Miami University in Oxford, Ohio on Sept. 23. Amy Kofoed, Katie Tate, and Missy Dennis each scored goals to give the Utes a 3-0 win. Utah goalkeeper Lynnsey Asay earned her second shutout of the year against the RedHawks. Sharing goalkeeper duties with Courtney Hills, Asay has a 2-0 record this season.
Ute Notes: Amy Kofoed's goal against Miami University was her first of the season and 35th of her career at Utah. Kofoed is just three goals away from tying Staci Burt's (Carolina Courage) all-time scoring record at the U.
Katie Tate's three goals this season leads the Utes statistically. Tate has scored a goal in each of Utah's three wins, and has been credited with two game-winning goals.
Lynnsey Asay's shutout at Miami was the second in her two starts for the Utes. It marked the first time that the RedHawks had been shutout on their home field in 24 games and ended their four-game winning streak.
