SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH - The University of Utah women's soccer team improved their season record to 2-1 with a win at home against Arizona State in Friday. The Lady Utes controlled possession throughout the game to take the 1-0 victory and give the Sun Devils there first loss of the season.
In a defensive struggle, the teams battled back and forth down-field, giving up a limited amount of shots. The sole goal of the game was scored by Utah's Katie Tate just over 29 minutes into the first half. Amy Kofoed was credited an assist on Tate's second goal of the season. Utah's Courtney Hills had four saves and won the decision at the goalkeeper position. Kristin Slater had three saves in the losing effort for the Sun Devils. The loss drops ASU to 2-1 on the season.
Utah will continue in action next week against Marquette on Thursday, September 13 and Montana on Sept. 16.
