THIS WEEK:
No. 22 Utah (19-6, 8-3) travels to Provo, Utah, to face Brigham Young at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8.
REVIEWING LAST WEEK:
Utah is coming off three consecutive wins last week. The Utes swept Utah State (30-22, 30-23, 30-24) at home last Tuesday before beating Air Force (30-27, 30-25, 30-22) and New Mexico (30-19, 30-32, 30-23, 30-25) over the weekend. Utah is now in third place in the Mountain West Conference behind San Diego State and Colorado State.
TURNER NOTCHES 1,000th KILL:
Junior captain Kim Turner notched her 1,000th career kill on Saturday night in the Utes' 3-1 win over New Mexico. Turner, who finished with 19 kills on the match, got No. 1,000 in the second game against the Lobos.

SERIES SHORTS:
* The Utes trail the all-time series with BYU 10-53. The last time the two teams met, earlier this season on Oct. 11, Utah won 3-0 at Crimson Court. The Utes are 8-21 at home, 2-29 away and 0-3 at a neutral site vs. the Cougars.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION:
Brigham Young - The Cougars (11-14, 6-5) are coming off back-to-back wins last weekend over New Mexico and Air Force. April Varner leads Brigham Young with a 2.88 kills per game average. Setter Karina Puikkonen, the MWC Player of the Week, averages 10.90 assists per game and Lindsey Metcalf leads the Cougars with a 3.05 digs per game average. Alexis Brown and Carrie Bowers lead the team with 1.39 and 1.36 blocks per game averages.
MWC LEADERS:
As a team, Utah leads the MWC in hitting defense (.145) and blocks per game (3.38), and ranks second in assists per game (13.89), kills per game (15.35) and service aces (1.81). In conference matches, the Utes are tops in hitting defense, and rank second in kills, blocks, assists and service aces.
Individually, junior Kim Turner leads the conference in blocks per game (1.53), ranks third in kills per game (3.91), is tied for seventh in service aces (0.34) and ranks ninth in hitting percentage (.294). Sylva Strzinkov? ranks fourth in the league in kills per game (3.90), tied for seventh in service aces (0.34), 12th in digs per game (2.48) and 15th in hitting percentage (.256). Sophomore Lyndsey Phillips is third in blocks (1.39) and 12th in hitting percentage (.279), while senior Brenda Beal is sixth (1.26) in blocks. Jackie Morrill is seventh in digs per game with a 2.91 average, and sophomore Kelsie Kartchner is tied for fifth in service aces (0.39) and seventh in assists (10.47).
In statistics for conference matches only, Turner ranks second in kills (4.23), fifth in hitting percentage (.335), and 10th in both blocks (1.28) and service aces (0.36). Strzinkov? is tied for fifth in kills (3.85) and service aces (0.38), and 11th in digs (2.28). Phillips is fifth in blocks (1.37) and 11th in hitting percentage (.278), while Beal is 11th in blocks (1.26) and 15th in hitting percentage (.250). Meanwhile, Morrill is tied for fifth in digs (3.00) and Kartchner is fifth in assists (11.74) and 11th in service aces (0.33). Freshman Shelly Hundley is 15th in service aces (0.30).
HOME SWEET HOME:
After last Tuesday's sweep of Utah State, the Utes have a 29-match home winning streak that dates back to the 2000 season. Utah, 12-0 at Crimson Court this season, went 15-0 at home last year and won its last two home matches of the 2000 season. The Utes' last loss at Crimson Court came on Oct. 27, 2000, when they fell to Colorado State 3-0.
MILESTONE WATCH:
With her first block assist in Friday's win over Air Force, Kim Turner moved into second place all-time in block assists at Utah. She now has 388, 61 away from first place. Turner also ranks fourth in total blocks (440), eighth in kills (1,013) and tied for eighth in block solos (52).
Sophomore setter Kelsie Kartchner has 1,673 assists in her two years at the U. She is just 26 away from sixth place.
