Salt Lake City - Utah head volleyball coach Beth Launiere recently hired Lucie Turkov? as her No. 2 assistant. With an extensive playing and coaching background, Turkov? has established an impressive reputation in the volleyball arena.
"Lucie brings a tremendous amount of assets to the coaching staff that will be invaluable. Her recent playing and coaching experience, both in club and as a student assistant with our program last year, brings great perspective to the program. Her international experience will benefit our foreign recruiting pursuits greatly," said Launiere.
Turkov? received her bachelor's degree in parks, recreation and tourism from the University of Utah in May of 2002. She played for the U. from 1997-2000 and was a two-time all-conference selection. Turkov? was named to the Verizon Academic All-District VIII Women's Volleyball Team and was an academic all-MWC selection in 2000. She received all-tournament team honors at the 2000 University of New Hampshire Tourney and made her mark on Utah's all-time career leaders' list. Turkov? ranks fourth in matches played (124), fifth in games played (439) and assists (1,792), eighth in service aces (104) and tenth in digs (871).
Turkov? who served as a student-assistant coach last fall, has also worked at numerous summer camps and clinics, and officiates in her spare time. The 24-year-old Turkov? resides in Salt Lake City and enjoys snowboarding, camping and outdoor activities.
