MISSOULA, Mont - The University of Utah women's soccer team improved their undefeated season record to 5-0-2 with a win against Montana, Sunday at South Campus Stadium. The Utes controlled possession throughout the game to take a 1-0 victory.
The Utes' bout with the grizzlies ended in double overtime after senior forward Katie Tate scored the winning goal at the 106:02 mark off an assist from Tracy Stratton. Tate ended the game with four shot-on-goal attempts.
Utah tallied a combined 25 shots in the contest with 13 of those shots coming in the second half. Senior forward Shauna Gurr-Bingham contributed with eight shots, while five of those were shot-on-goal. Junior Heather Wilhelm-Carter was credited with three shot-on-goal attempts. The Utes outshot Montana by a margin of 25-2.
"They're undefeated and a good solid team," stated Montana's head coach Betsy Duerkson. The Grizzles goalkeeper Sarah Braseth ended the game with 17 saves, while Utes goalkeeper Courtney Hills-McBeth came away with one save.
The women's soccer team will be back in action against St. Mary's on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. This match will be held on Ute Field.
