SALT LAKE CITY - The (2-0-1) University of Utah women's soccer team notched (3-1-0) Kentucky, ranked No.18 in the Soccer America poll, 2-1 in double overtime on Sunday at Ute Field. This victory marked the second time Utah has defeated a ranked opponent in school history.

Junior forward Missy Dennis stole the show by scoring both of Utah's goals. The first goal came on an assist from Lauren Field at the 42:21 mark. Dennis' 20-yard shot put the Utes up 1-0 before the half. Dennis made her mark again as she scored the winning goal 101:56 into the second overtime. She finished the game with four shots with two of those shot-on-goal. Kentucky's solo goal came from Jen Wilkinson 57:09 in.

"I go in and give 100 percent," said Dennis. "I do what I can to help our team win. Our passing game was a lot better this game as well."

The Utes defense did another excellent job preventing the Wildcat's attack. Senior goalkeeper Courtney Hills-McBeth tallied up four saves on her way to victory. Utah only allowed nine shots throughout the entire game.

In spite of the rainy weather conditions, Utah's offensive forwards were able to pressure Kentucky's defense. The Utes outshot the Wildcats by a margin of 15-9.

"This is the best we have battled this year," remarked coach Rich Manning. "We were mentally and physically committed on this game. I'm really happy with our performance. Kentucky is well organized and coached. This was a great non-regional win for us and a great confidence booster."
