COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah middle blocker Kim Turner has been named Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking her 10th overall award and second this season.
A 6-2 senior from Chandler, Ariz. (Dobson HS), Turner helped the Utes remain just one match behind Colorado State in the MWC standings with wins over UNLV and San Diego State last week.
After dropping the first game of the UNLV match, Turner paced a Utah rally by recording her second triple-double of the year with 20 kills, 13 digs and 10 blocks, including three solo blocks, while hitting .467 vs. the Rebels.
In Saturday's victory over San Diego State, she hit .500 with 14 kills, six digs and eight blocks.
For the week, Turner hit .480 (34-10-50) and averaged 4.86 kills, 2.71 digs, 2.57 blocks and .43 aces per game. She leads the MWC in blocks with 1.53 per game and has a streak of 112 straight matches with at least one block.
