LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Senior All-America candidate Kim Turner had a career-high 25 kills as the Utah volleyball team closed out regular-sesaon Mountain West Conference play with a thrilling 3-2 win (30-17, 27-30, 30-23, 27-30, 16-14) over UNLV tonight. With the win, the Utes improve to 18-2 overall and 12-2 in the MWC. Utah hit for .302 on the match and held the Rebels to .209. Utah also out-blocked UNLV 16-10.

"UNLV played hard and well," Head Coach Beth Launiere said. "It was a battle. It took everything we had to win the match."

Turner, who also added six blocks, led a group of four Utes in double-digit kills. Joining her were sophomore Shelly Sommerfeldt, who had 18 kills, and juniors Lyndsey Henderson and Kelsie Kartchner with 12 and 11, respectively. Sommerfeldt added seven blocks and seven digs, while Henderson notched six blocks, and Kartchner had 29 assists, four service aces and four digs on the match.

Junior Tracy Neumeier, spliting time with Kartcher, dished out 35 assists, while senior libero Jackie Morrill had 12 digs. Freshman Amie Toone scored the last three points of the match for the Utes on blocks. She finished with five on the night.

"Lyndsey and Amie were huge at the end of the match. They were both key to our winning," Launiere said.
