Upcoming Event: Track & Field versus NCAA First Round on May 28, 2026

THIS WEEK: The University of Utah indoor track and field teams will compete at the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns, Utah, for the second time this year. The meet, which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, will feature athletes from both the U. and BYU trying to set NCAA pre-qualifying marks and times.
LAST MEET: The Utah indoor track and field teams finished competition for the Mountain State Games on Saturday, Feb. 8. Hosted by Idaho State, the meet was held at the ISU's Holt Arena and featured Utah, BYU, Montana, Utah Valley State College, Oregon and Weber State. The Utes won six events and set 17 personal records during the final day of competition.
Leading the way for Utah in day two were Kristin Taylor, Kristy Slade, Jennifer Jackman, Katie Decker, Delfino Arevalo and Ivan Alvarado, who all notched first-place finishes in their respected events. Taylor won the one-mile and set a new personal record of 5:20.93. Slade followed up a strong performance in the pentathlon with a win in the long jump (18' 2.75"). Jackman finished first in the 400 meters with a time of 58.09 and Decker won the high jump in 5' 7.00".
On the men's side, Arevalo won the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:30.92. His time marks a new personal record for the junior. Alvarado won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.78. His time in that events was also a new personal record.
"We are really excited about having so many personal records and first place-finishes at the Mountain State Games," said Head Coach Lisa Archer. "It was great preparation our conference meet."
UTES ON THE MOVE: Junior Katie Decker is currently tied for first place in the Mountain West Conference in the high jump. Her height of 1.72 meters was set at the Olympic Oval Invitational. Decker has placed first in her previous four meets in the high jump.
NEXT MEET: The Utes travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., to compete in the 2003 Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships. Hosted by Air Force, competition for the meet will begin on Thursday, Feb. 27 and end on Saturday, Mar. 1.
