SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Utah women's volleyball team won its fifth-straight match to improve to 5-2 on the season with a three-game sweep (30-18, 30-22, 30-29) of South Carolina at the Notre Dame Shamrock Invitational this evening.
The Utes hit for .264 as a team and held the Gamecocks to .188. Utah led every statistical category except blocks, where they were edged 6 to 5.5.
Sophomore Shelly Sommerfeldt finished with a team-high 13 kills to lead Utah, while senior All-American candidate Kim Turner posted a double-double -- 12 kills and 12 digs. Junior Lyndsey Henderson added 10 kills and four blocks.
Junior setter Kelsie Kartchner dished out 25 assists and joined Sommerfeldt with three service aces.
Senior Jackie Morrill had a team-high 13 digs, while freshman Connie Dangerfield added 10.
