Upcoming Event: Track & Field versus NCAA First Round on May 28, 2026

THIS WEEK:
The Utah track and field teams travel to Ogden, Utah, this weekend for the Wildcat Invitational. Weber State will host event at the Swenson Indoor Track on Saturday, Feb. 21. Competition will kickoff at 9:00 a.m. with the men's and women's pole vaulting events. This will be Utah's last meet before the Mountain West Conference Championships and should serve as a warm up.
QUOTING HEAD COACH Lisa Archer:
"We've been improving our marks and times each meet as the season has progressed," says Archer. "With the conference championships just around the corner, we look to keep improving."
LAST WEEK:
The University of Utah indoor track and field teams finished competition for the Holiday Inn Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 14. Held at the Idaho Sports Center, the meet featured athletes from Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State-LA, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Northwest Nazarene, San Diego State, UC-Riverside, UNLV, Hawaii, Utah State and Utah Valley State College. The Utes set numerous personal records on both the men's and women's side and set school records in the 800m and 4x400-meter relay.
Leading the way for the women were Nellie Hammons and Tracy Hamblin, who both notched first-place finishes in their respective events. Hammons won the 800m with an NCAA provisionally qualifying time of 2:08.63. Her performance is not only a personal record, but also a school record for. Hamblin tied for first in the pole vault with a height of 3.86m.
On the men's side, veterans Delfino Arevalo and Nephi Tyler led the way. Tyler had an impressive meet taking gold in both the mile (4:15.05) and the 800m (1:53.95). Arevalo placed second in the 3,000m with 8:34.85.
"This was one of our strongest meets ever," noted Head Coach Lisa Archer. "Our coaching staff is very proud of the athletes. It's the end of the season and we are preparing for the conference championships. I felt that our team performed and represented themselves as a very strong Division I program."
UTES ON THE RUN:
The women's 4x400m relay team consisting of Jen Jackman, Amanda Feigt, Andrea Davidson and Nellie Hammons continues to improve as the season progresses. Last weekend, they set another school record, finishing at 3:47.72. It was the second time the team broke the school record this indoor season. The time ranks third in the Mountain West Conference.
Katie Decker set two personal records in the high jump last weekend. In the prelims, Decker jumped 5' 9" for her first pr. Her second jump was an impressive 5' 11 1/4", which ranks second in the league.
MIGHTY FROSH: Freshman Amanda Feigt continues to improve in the long jump and 200m. Last week, Feigt finished third in the long jump with a mark of 5.59m and 13th in the 200m with a season-best 25.85.
Jen Kaplar is improving in the hurdle events. Last week, she finished 12th (9.28) in the 60-meter hurdles while competing against several ranked athletes.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Next up for the Utes is the Mountain West Conference Championships on Thursday, Feb. 26, in Colorado Springs, Colo. Air Force will play host to the event.
