Upcoming Event: Track & Field versus NCAA First Round on May 28, 2026

THIS WEEK:
The Utah track and field teams will compete in the Mountain State Games in Pocatello, Idaho. The meet will kick off Friday, Feb. 6 and continue through Saturday, Feb. 7. Idaho State will host the meet at Holt Arena with athletes from Montana State, Montana, Utah State, Weber State, Brigham Young, Utah Valley State, Southern Utah and Sacramento State competing in the meet.
QUOTING HEAD COACH Lisa Archer:
"We're very excited to take the entire team to the Mountain State Games," states Archer. "It's a two round meet with a trial round and a final round so we want to post our best marks and get good placement in each event. It will be great practice for the upcoming Mountain West Conference Indoor Championship meet later this month."
LAST WEEK:
The Utes split up competition sites last week with most of the athletes competing in the Bodybuilding.com Invitational in Nampa, Idaho, on Saturday, Jan. 31. The throwers and remaining athletes competed in the Wilson Motor Invitational in Logan, Utah, that same day.
Leading the Utes at the Bodybuilding.com invitational were Nellie Hammons, Jen Jackman and Katie Decker. Hammons continued to dominate the 800m finishing first with new school record time of 2:08.64. Jackman took the gold in the 60-meter hurdles with 9.01 finish and Decker took the high jump with a 1.75 mark. The Utes also set a new school record in the 4x400m relay with a 3:50.13 finish.
At the Wilson Motor Invitational, the Utes dominated the weight throw with Natasha Eldridge, Vanessa Mortensen and Beck Riddle leading the way. Eldridge finished second in the weight throw with 17.49m mark. She was followed by Mortensen at third (17.09m) and Riddle at fourth (15.65m).
UTES ON THE RUN:
Nellie Hammons had an outstanding meet at the Bodybuilding.com invitational setting a school record in the 800m and contributing to a 4x400-meter relay school record. Hammons currently ranks first in the MWC in the 800m and second in the mile.
Jen Jackman had another great meet at the Bodybuilding.com invitational placing first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.01. In the preliminaries, Jackman boasted an 8.97 finish, a new personal record. She has been a solid force in the hurdles throughout the season.
MIGHTY FROSH:
The Utah freshmen have looked impressive this season on both the men's and women's side. Amanda Feigt continues to improve finishing second in both the long jump (5.69m) and 400m (57.67) last weekend.
Aishatu Yusuf has been solid in the 60-meter dash this season. She finished second (8.18) last weekend fifth in the 200m (27.16).
Jennifer Kaplar is dabbling in a few events this season. Kaplar finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.39) and fourth in the 200m (26.69)

Next up for the Utes is the Holiday Inn Team Invitational Games on Sat., Feb. 14, in Nampa Idaho.
