SALT LAKE CITY -- The Mountain West Conference tabbed University of Utah women's volleyball player Connie Dangerfield volleyball Player of the Week.
A sophomore libero, Dangerfield led the Utes' defense as they won three straight matches last weekend. Two of those wins were over then-No. 6-ranked UCLA and Saint Mary's College. SMC is receiving votes in the USA Today/CSTV coaches poll.
Dangerfield set a conference record with 33 digs against UCLA. She tallied another 21 against Northern Colorado and 16 versus Saint Mary's College. The Salt Lake City native had a career best 17 digs prior to this weekend. She averaged 3.05 digs per game entering the three-match slate last weekend and is now averaging 4.03 digs.
Dangerfield and the No. 23-ranked Utes return to action on Friday, Sept. 24 when they open conference action at BYU. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
