SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah volleyball team celebrated its award-laden 2004 campaign at the season-ending awards banquet last weekend.
The Utes went 24-7 overall and 13-1 in league action and captured a share of its first-ever Mountain West Conference title. Among the 24 wins were victories over No. 6 UCLA, No. 6 Colorado State and an undefeated Saint Mary's program. In postseason play, Utah finished second in the conference tournament and advanced to the NCAA regionals in Los Angeles, Calif. - it's seventh straight NCAA tournament appearance. The Utes' season ended with a 3-0 loss to Long Beach State in the first round.
