SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah announced the addition of a Spring Goalkeeper Academy, which is scheduled to begin April 4th. The Spring Goalkeeper Academy joins the lineup of Utah Women's Soccer Academy camps that will take place during the summer months.
The Spring Goalkeeper Academy will be run by University of Utah Assistant Coach Leslie Weeks and well as current Ute players. The goal of the Academy is to offer comprehensive goalkeeper education to players ages 10-18 and provide a fun, safe, and technically challenging environment in which to develop individual skills.
The six week program is grouped by age and skill level, ensuring that each player can progress at their own pace and build confidence in their abilities. Each keeper will receive expert personalized instruction and the opportunity to test newly-acquired skills in the team context, and in a positive and supportive group environment. Training is conducted in an atmosphere that fosters good sportsmanship and leadership on and off the field.
The Spring Goalkeeper Academy will offer two programs based on each player's skill level and training needs: 1) Basic Program-An intense and comprehensive training program for players of all ages that covers all essential technical and tactical elements of goalkeeping. 2) Advanced Program-A specialized program for keepers age 13 and above with strong technical ability and extensive experience.
Further information regarding the Academy, as well as available dates, times and registration information, can be found on the Utah Women's Soccer Academy's Website at www.utahwsa.com or by contacting Leslie Weeks at lweeks@huntsman.utah.edu.
