SALT LAKE CITY - Incoming University of Utah volleyball recruits were used to garnering recognition as standout prep players. Now, the four Ute newcomers have been named one of the top-10 college recruiting classes in the August issue of Volleyball Magazine.
Utah's class is ranked eighth and is composed of outside hitters Airial Salvo and Kathryn Lovell, setter Shannon Krug, and middle blocker Lori Baird. All four signed to play for the Utes last fall.
Since signing last November, the class has continued to shine on the court. Salvo made the Junior National team and is competing with it in Ankara, Turkey, this week. In addition to Salvo, Baird and Lovell are on the Intermountain Volleyball Association junior team, playing some of the top players in the world at the World Games this week.
Utah was the only Mountain West Conference school listed in the rankings. Stanford took top honors while Penn State and Nebraska round out the top-three picks. Below is Volleyball Magazine's complete top-10 ranking.
