Utes Ranked In Soccer Buzz Preseason Top 30 Poll

SALT LAKE CITY - Soccer Buzz magazine ranked the Utah women's soccer team 26th in its preseason Top 30 Poll. The Utes were also ranked seventh in the West Region.
Utah was the only Mountain West Conference team to appear in the Soccer Buzz Top 30 and the West Region rankings. North Carolina was the preseason No. 1 team, followed by Notre Dame, UCLA, Portland and Virginia. Penn State, Texas A&M, Santa Clara, Duke and Connecticut rounded out the top 10.
The Utes, who have been ranked in the national polls all four years under head coach Rich Manning, return 15 letterwinners. Utah went 13-6-3 in 2004, won its second-straight Mountain West Conference Tournament and advanced the NCAA Championships for the third consecutive year.
Two opponents on Utah's nonconference schedule were also ranked in the Soccer Buzz Top 30. Arizona, which hosts the Utes on Sept. 16 in Tucson, was 25th. California, ranked 19th, comes to Ute Field on Sept. 25.
