SALT LAKE CITY - Utah freshman forward Adele Letro has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. This is Letro's first player of the week honor.
Letro, from Davis, Calif., scored two goals to lift the Utes over Purdue and Denver last weekend. She scored the first goal in Utah's 2-1 victory over the Boilermakers on Friday night. She then scored the game-winner against Denver as she volleyed home a cross in the 79th minute to give Utah the 1-0 win.
Letro has also scored a goal in each of Utah's last three games and leads the team in scoring with eight points.
Utah is off to the best start in school history with a 6-0 record. The Utes play in the Four Points University Plaza Arizona Soccer Classic on Friday and Sunday in Tucson, Ariz. Utah plays Arizona on Friday at 7:30 p.m. (MST) and Cal State Fullerton on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. (MST).
