Webb Named MWC Volleyball Player of the Week

SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah's junior outside hitter Whitney Webb earned Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking her second consecutive weekly honor.
Webb, a Gilbert, Ariz., native, led the first-place and then-10th-ranked Utes to a 2-0 conference record last week with sweeps of San Diego State and UNLV. Against the Aztecs, Webb tallied nine kills on 17 attempts (.412 hitting percentage), along with 13 digs and seven total blocks. She followed that with a season-best .650 hitting percentage against the Rebels, collecting 14 kills in 20 attempts with only one error. Webb also tallied nine digs, two assists and one block against UNLV.
For the week, Webb averaged 3.83 kills, 3.67 digs, 1.33 blocks and 0.50 assists per game, with a .541 hitting efficiency (23-3-37).
Webb wins the honor for the second week in a row, and it marks the third time a Ute has won the weekly award. In addition to Webb's two awards, Sydney Anderson won it back on Oct. 2.
Webb and the No. 9-ranked Ute spikers return to action this weekend when they host No. 17 Brigham Young this Friday. First serve at Crimson Court is set for 7 p.m.
