Utah (15-4-1, 7-0-0), ranked No. 11 in the NSCAA/adidas Top 25 poll, has received a bid to the 2006 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship and will host first and second round games Thursday and Saturday at Ute Field.
The Utes are one of 16 seeded teams in the tournament and will welcome three other schools to the University of Utah campus. Utah, the No. 4 seed in the region, faces Idaho State (10-8-1) on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. (MST). BYU (13-2-4) and Portland (14-3-3) play in the second game at 7:00 p.m. (MST). The winners meet in the second round on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. (MST).

Tickets are on sale at the Utah Athletics Ticket Office, located at Rice-Eccles Stadium. They can also be purchased online at UtahTickets.com Buy Tickets Here or by phone at (801) 581-UTIX. All-session tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for youth and college students. Single-session tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for youth and college students. The Ute Field Ticket Office will open one hour prior to the first game each day.

Utah Update
The Utes are 15-4-1 overall and won the Mountain West Conference regular-season title with a 7-0-0 record. Utah hosted the Mountain West Conference Tournament last weekend at Ute Field. The Utes defeated New Mexico 2-1 in the first overtime period in the semifinals and tied UNLV 0-0 in the championship game. The Rebels won the shootout 6-5 to claim the tournament trophy.
Before tying UNLV, the Utes had won 11 games in a row for the longest winning streak in school history, toping a run of six wins set during the 2003 season. Before New Mexico scored at the end of the 84th minute in the semifinals, Utah had gone 939 minutes without allowing a goal. The streak spanned nine complete games and parts of two others.
Adele Letro (F, 5-8, So.) leads the Utes in points (25) with a team-high 11 goals and three assists. Amanda Feigt (F, 5-11, Sr.) is second in points (19) with a team-best seven assists and six goals. Hailey Marsh (F, 5-8, Sr.) and Melissa Crespo (D, 5-5, Jr.) are third in points (9). Marsh has three goals and three assists, while Crespo has two goals and five assists. Goalkeeper Ashley Mason (5-9, Sr.) has a 0.74 goals against average with 67 saves and 14 goals allowed. She also has 7.3 shutouts.
Utah has more shots (282-193) and more goals (33-14) than its opponents this season, but has a deficit of 73-65 in corner kicks. The Utes have a 0.69 goals against average while their opponents have a 1.62 mark.
In The Rankings
? The Utes fell one spot to No. 11 in the NSCAA/adidas Top 25 poll this week. Utah is ranked for the seventh consecutive week and the ninth time in the last 10 weeks. The Utes remained fourth in the NSCAA West Region rankings. Utah achieved its highest ranking ever in the NSCAA poll on Oct. 31, coming in 10th.
? Utah held steady at No. 10 in the Soccer America poll. The Utes are in the poll for the sixth consecutive week.
? The Utes dropped two spots to No. 15 in the Soccer Buzz Top 30 poll, and are ranked for the fifth-consecutive week. Utah is ranked fourth in the West Region rankings.
? Utah remained at No. 13 is in the Soccer Times Top 25 rankings and was in the poll for the fifth consecutive week.
Utes In The Postseason
Utah's all-time postseason record is 12-9-4, including a 1-3-1 mark in the NCAA Championship. The Utes are making their fifth NCAA appearance all-time (2002, `03, `04, `05, `06), all coming under Rich Manning. Utah has moved beyond the first round once, defeating BYU 3-2 in overtime on Nov. 14, 2002 in Provo, Utah. The Utes tied Idaho State 0-0 in the first round on Nov. 13, 2003 at Ute Field, losing the shootout 5-4.
The Utes are 11-6-3 in conference tournaments, including a 10-5-3 mark in Mountain West Conference Tournament play. Utah is 2-0-1 in conference tournament championship games all-time, winning MWC Championship titles in 2003 and 2004. Utah defeated BYU 2-0 on Nov. 8, 2003 at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The Utes played San Diego State to a 1-1 tie on Nov. 6, 2004 in Provo, Utah, before winning the shootout 4-3. Utah tied UNLV 0-0 in the 2006 title game on Nov. 4 and lost the shootout 6-5.
Scouting Idaho State
The Bengals are 10-8-1 overall and won the Big Sky Conference regular season title with a 5-2-0 record. Idaho State won the Big Sky Tournament last weekend, defeating Weber State 1-0 in the semifinals and winning a shootout 4-3 over Sacramento State after playing to a 2-2 tie in the championship game. The Bengals are 5-5-1 on the road this season.
Michelle Okumura (M, 5-6, Jr.) leads ISU in points (15) with six goals and three assists. Chantal Kim (F/M, 5-6, Sr.) is second in points (14) with a team-best seven goals. Annamarie Hofstetter (M, 5-11, Fr.) is third in points (12) with one goal and a team-best 10 assists. Lyndsay Gensler (GK, 6-1, Sr.) has a 1.03 goals against average in 17 games this season. She has allowed 18 goals while making 76 saves. Allison Gibson is in her first season as a college head coach.
The Series With The Bengals
Utah leads the all-time series with Idaho State 4-0-2 and has a 2-0-1 record in Salt Lake City. Earlier this season, the U. beat Idaho State 3-1 on Sept. 22 in Pocatello, Idaho. The Utes and Bengals have met once before in the NCAA Tournament, playing to a 0-0 tie in the first round on Nov. 13, 2003 at Ute Field. The Bengals won the shootout 5-4.
Coming Up
Should Utah win its NCAA first and second round games this weekend, it will advance to the third round played at an on-campus site Nov. 17-19. The Utes would face the winner of the No. 1-seed Texas, Connecticut, Columbia-Barnard and Long Island bracket being played in Storrs, Conn.
