SALT LAKE CITY - Adele Letro, Amanda Feigt and Kelly Isleib of the Utah women's soccer team were honored when the top performers in the West Region for 2006 were announced by Soccer Buzz online magazine. Letro made second team All-West, Feigt was third team All-West, and Isleib earned a spot on the All-West Freshman Team.
The Soccer Buzz awards, selected for the 11th year, were based on a nomination process open to all Division I coaches and balloting results of a voting panel of selected head coaches and Soccer Buzz staff.
Letro led the Utes with 12 goals, including eight game-winners, and also had three assists. The sophomore forward from Davis, Calif., was also honored as a second team All-American by the NSCAA and the 2006 MWC Offensive Player of the Year. Letro has scored 19 goals in two seasons at the U.
Feigt was the Utes' second-leading scorer with seven goals and had a team-high seven assists. The senior forward was also named first team all-Mountain West Conference. A native of Sandy, Utah, Feigt native left the U. as the school's all-time assists leader (22).
Isleib, a freshman midfielder from Park City, Utah, started all 22 games for the Utes. She scored one goal and was third on the team with four assists. Isleib was honored as the 2006 Mountain West Conference Co-Freshman of the Year.
Utah was ranked 18th in the final Soccer Buzz poll. The Utes tied the school record for wins with a 16-5-1 mark and went undefeated in Mountain West Conference play at 7-0 to win the title. The Utes earned an NCAA tournament berth for the fifth consecutive year under head coach Rich Manning and advanced to the second round.
