SALT LAKE CITY - University of Utah volleyball head coach Beth Launiere has announced the signing of Chelsey Sandberg to a National letter-of-intent.
The 6-1 middle blocker comes to Utah after playing high school volleyball at Copper Hills High School.
"Chelsey is a great athlete and volleyball talent," remarked Launiere. "She is relatively new to the sport so she has tremendous upside to her game. Chelsey can potentially be one of the best blockers to play for Utah because of her athletic ability. We're extremely excited to have her join our program".
At Copper Hills, she was a first team USA/IVA All-Region pick as well as an all-state selection. Sandberg was also a two-time team MVP.
Her current club team, Club Utah, took first place in the Intermountain Region Tournament while her 2005 club team, Players VBC, finished fifth at the national tournament.
Sandberg joins Sydney Anderson who signed an NLI to play for Utah volleyball back in November, 2005.
