Utah Receiving Votes In Soccer Buzz Preseason Poll

SALT LAKE CITY - Utah was listed among seven teams receiving votes in the Soccer Buzz Top 30 preseason poll. The Utes were also ranked 11th in the West Region, perennially one of the strongest in the country.
Seven of Utah's opponents this season were either ranked in the Top 30 or received votes. The Utes face Santa Clara and Stanford during their opening weekend, Aug. 25-27, at the Santa Clara adidas Classic. The Broncos were ranked second behind No. 1 UCLA. The Cardinal came in at No. 19. Notre Dame (No. 3), Florida State (No. 4) and Portland (No. 5) rounded out the top five.
Looking ahead to the rest of Utah's schedule, Illinois was ranked 15th, Pepperdine was 20th and BYU was 23rd. Two more of the Utes' foes, Arizona and Purdue, received votes. Arizona (Sept. 1-3), Pepperdine (Sept. 29) and BYU (Oct. 7) visit Ute Field this season.
Utah will host a pre-season scrimmage against Utah Valley State on Tuesday, Aug. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Ute Field. Admission to the match will be free. The Utes open their regular-season home schedule with the Utah Fall Classic, Sept. 1-3. Utah State, Arizona State and Washington State round out field.
