Utah Head Coach Rich Manning
"It was a great effort by us, especially for our first game. We did a lot of things very well. Our back four was very organized, and we were able to get Stanford offside four or five times just because we were playing good soccer from a defensive standpoint. Katie Battazzo and Melissa Crespo did a very good job of communicating, and that made a big difference for us. Emily Campbell, in addition to scoring a goal, also had a great defensive performance."
"I thought we executed our passes very well. We had a four to five minute stretch where I thought that we passed the ball very well. Stanford also did a nice job of possessing the ball the last 30 minutes of the game, and we maybe needed to be a little sharper in that area. That's maybe the one thing we need to work on going into Sunday's game against Santa Clara. But, to open on the road on top of all the injuries we've had to deal with in the preseason, I'm very happy and very proud of the effort of our team."
