Rich's Remarks
On last weekend: "We had two terrific tests last weekend for our team. We continue to grow and I'm pleased with our overall progress. Fresno State played a tight defense and really challenged us to play better with the ball. And the Colorado game gave us some wonderful lessons to learn from. I thought we actually defended very well for the majority of the game. We just had a couple of crucial lapses in concentration at the wrong time that cost us. We can be much tighter in our possession, communicate better on the field and stay more compact as a unit. It was also another chance for us to chase the game at the end. And, even though we didn't score, I think we did some nice things. These games will help us as we continue to prepare for Mountain West Conference play."
On playing Purdue: "We had a cracker of a game with Purdue last season. And I expect the same on Friday. They have a tough team, with a couple of creative midfielders and forwards that can finish the slightest of chances. We are looking forward to getting out on the road and testing ourselves against a strong team. I was really impressed with Jessica Okoroafo last season. It will be a great test."
On playing Illinois: "This will be our first game against Illinois. They have a terrific program and will be contending, I'm sure, for the Big Ten championship later this fall. It will be a challenge to rebound from our Friday game and face such stout competition. But, it's another opportunity to prepare ourselves for conference play and some of the environments we will be playing in later in the season."
