Rich's Remarks
On the wins over Washington State and Arizona: "We were tested twice last weekend and managed two tight victories against very good teams. I was most pleased that we showed terrific character in both games. Against Washington State, we gave up a tying goal with less than five minutes remaining and came back to win in overtime. Against Arizona, we scored a deflating own goal which really shifted momentum right before halftime. Yet we came out with great energy and spirit in the second half to get the game-winner."
On the progress of the team: "I feel good about our progress so far. We set up a difficult schedule to find out more about ourselves early in the season. Our attack is improving and players are starting to assert themselves on the field. We are also discovering areas that we can improve in. We can be more consistent in our ball possession and more organized in the back. And, clearly, we want to be consistent in our effort and concentration over 90 minutes."
On playing Fresno State: "Fresno State will be coming in here with great confidence. They had a great close to the season last year, made the NCAA tournament, and are coming off of a huge win at Florida. They are a physical team that is tough to score on."
On playing Colorado: "Colorado is also off to a flying start. They play tremendous soccer and have two very dangerous forwards in Nikki Marshall and Katie Griffin. We have had some enjoyable matches in the past and it will be a great way to finish our home stand."
