Today was a very good day! We got to sleep in this morning and we ate breakfast at the hotel. Then some of the girls went to Adriano beach that is right by our hotel. Connie, Lori, and Stephanie rented bikes and rode around town. There was some mysterious guy in a mitsibishi that was following them around.....so Connie says We had lunch at our hotel before we headed to the gym to play. At lunch, there was a spider descending down from the ceiling onto Hilary and Whit told her and she picked up a knife and knocked Airial out of the chair next to her! She was freaking out. It was pretty funny. We left for the gym at 2:30pm and ended up waiting for Hilary and Kat and wondering where they were, so Connie went to find out.....and they were locked in their room!!! They did get out a few minutes later and we all got to the gym safely The gym looked like a tent from the outside! It was kind of weird. The floor was wood, but it looked like a wood floor you would find in a kitchen! It was a really good floor to play on. The first team we played was Teodora in the Italian B1 league. They were very good. We lost 3-2. It was a fun match and very intense. They had some really good jump servers (By the way I set a record tonight on missed serves....I beat my Colorado state record). There was a rally where I think Syd had 8 or 9 digs...it was amazing! We had about 10 or 15 minutes before the next match started.
The second team we played was the Italian Youth National Team. We lost to them 3-1. They were a good team to play. We ate dinner with them at a restaurant by the gym after. They were very nice and most of them spoke at least a little bit of English. There was one girl that was studying for her English test tomorrow and we were looking at her homework....she just had to memorize random sentences and be able to write them in cursive. They told us they have played together for about 9 months now. They are between the ages of 14 and 17. They were very nice girls. Overall, it was a good day and we learned a lot, as always!!!!
We are on our way to get GELATO, yum yum. Ciao.
