Utah consensus All-American Keith Van Horn was responsible for two of the greatest moments in Utah basketball history ... and they came back-to-back ... No. 3 .
The scene was the 1997 Western Athletic Conference Tournament in Las Vegas. In Utah's semifinal matchup with New Mexico, the Lobos were hot from behind the 3-point arc and held a six-point lead in the first half.
Andre Miller led all scorers with 21 points, including a huge basket with just less than a minute left to go, tying the score at 70-70. Michael Doleac added 15 points for the Utes. The All-American Van Horn scored just 10.
But it was his last bucket that made all the difference. Following a Miller miss and the last few seconds ticking off the clock, Van Horn grabbed the ball in the lane and put up an off-balance, fall-away 13-footer that went in, giving Utah a 72-70 victory.
It was the second night in a row that Van Horn had won a game at the buzzer for the Utes. But the night before was even more incredible ... that's next at No. 2 in the greatest moments in Utah basketball history.
