Utah Soccer Team Excels In Classroom

SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's soccer team put together a solid Fall 2007 semester academically. Ute head coach Rich Manning's charges combined to post a 3.374 grade-point average.

In addition to the outstanding team GPA, two Utes were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for their prowess on the field and in the classroom.

Defender Kiley Jones (Sr., San Clemente, Calif.) was named an NSCAA Scholar-Athlete All-American. Meanwhile, midfielder Katy Reineke (Jr., Salt Lake City) was named an NSCAA Scholar-Athlete Third-Team All-West Region selection.

"I feel our players really made a conscious effort last fall to improve in the classroom," Manning said. "I was really proud that they were able to do it. We have several players with challenging majors, who are working hard. I was glad to see they are getting results."
