SALT LAKE CITY - Head track and field coach Kyle Kepler has announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters-of-Intent. Joining the Utes in the fall with be Langley Iverson (Reno, Nev./Galena HS) and Bree LeRoy (Gig Harbor, Wash./Gig Harbor HS).
Below is a look at the signing class:
Langley Iverson (High jump, Reno, Nev./Galena HS)
On Iverson: A three-time state high jump champion ... first-team all-state track and field ... personal best jump of 5'-8" at the state meet in 2007 ... three-time regional champion ... led Galena High women's basketball to the state playoffs in 2008 ... a two-time first-team all-region basketball player.
Kepler on Iverson: "Langley is a great talent who works very hard. We really like her overall skill set and athleticism. She is a leader by example and works hard on a daily basis to improve. Langley is another athlete who we look forward to have coming in and making her presence felt immediately. She is a solid student and someone we believe can help our team improve in every way."
Bree Leroy (Long jump/high jump/hurdles, Gig Harbor, Wash./Gig Harbor HS)
On Leroy: State champion in the long jump in 2007 ... runner-up in the high jump and 100-meter hurdles ... Gig Harbor won state championship in 2007 ... runner-up in the long jump at the 2006 state meet ... personal best of 18'-8.5" in the long jump ... personal best in the high jump 5'-05"... PR of 14.56 in the 100-meter hurdles ... is the school record holder in the 100-meter hurdles ... four-year member of the volleyball team ... all-Narrows League first-team volleyball player.
Kepler on Leroy: "Bree is a multi-talented student athlete who comes from a great track and field program in the state of Washington. She is the defending state champion in the long jump and was also the runner-up in high jump and 100-meter hurdles. Bree will be able to make an immediate impact for us in several events. Beyond her athletic talent she is also a very good student. We look forward to helping Bree develop in her individual events as well as in the multi-events."
