OGDEN, UTAH - The University of Utah track and field team put up stellar numbers on Saturday at the Weber State Wildcat Tune-Up. The Utes had three event champions, with all athletes placing in the top-five of each event. This weekend was the final meet of the indoor season before the Mountain West Conference Championships.
Langley Iverson has become an unstoppable entity for the team in the high jump. Although not posting as high of a mark as last week in the Iowa State Classic, Iverson walked away as event champion with height of 5'7.0". Mandi Witherspoon's height landed her second in the competition with a jump of 5'5.0".
In the triple jump, Ashley Patterson ousted the competition by a landslide on Saturday with a 37'9.5" jump. The athlete that came in second-place was Jami Daniels of Utah Valley University with a jump of 33'10".
Chelsey Kaplar ran two solid races in the 55-meter hurdles; in the third heat and the final race. The Ute raced in the third heat for a second-place finish with a time of 8.30, behind Michaela North of Weber State. The top two from each heat advanced to race in the final, giving Kaplar the chance for the overall victory.
