OGDEN, UTAH - A limited group of the University of Utah track and field team competed at the Javier's Wildcat Invitational hosted by Weber State University on Saturday. The Utes sent middle distance runners, a high jumper, and a limited number of throwers to compete.
Middle distance runners Samantha Gaffney, Alexis Davis, and Sydney Osmun competed in the 1500-meter run. Gaffney finished first for the Utes with a time of 5:13.11 (13th), followed by Davis (5:15.38, 14th) and Osmun (5:24.50, 15th).
Mandi Witherspoon competed in the high jump for a height of 5'3" for a fifth-place overall finish.
The Utes had three athletes compete in the shot put, discus, and the hammer. In the shot put, Jessica Hampton had a mark of 32'3.50" (16th), Wanda Dalton had a toss of 31'4.50" (18th-place), and Kastin Frostl hit a 30'9.75" (20th).
Dalton had the best toss out of the three in the discus with a mark of 103'10" (18th). Hampton had a 96'3" effort for 25th-place overall and Frostl finished in 27th-place with a 90'8" mark. Dalton came in eighth-place in the hammer with a toss of 144'5". Frostl had a 102'10" mark for 22nd-place.
