WALNUT, CALIF. - Lauren Endersen and Kellie Anderson of the University of Utah track and field team competed in two of the distance events at the prestigious Mt. Sac Relays on Thursday night and Friday morning. Both runners were able to outrun their personal records.
"Two races and two lifetime bests ... It's hard to ask for more. Those two have run a combined seven outdoor races this season and the result has been six personal bests," said head coach Kyle Kepler.
Anderson finished up just before midnight on Thursday in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 36:44.34 for a 15th-place overall finish. This is an 31 second improvement from her previous personal best.
Endersen competed in the 5,000-meter run on Friday morning for a tenth-place finish with a time of 17:11.21, a two-second improvement on her personal best in the event.
"They continue to improve as seniors. That's a testament to their commitment as runners and to our program," commented Kepler. "We still have some important races left and I know they'll give us everything they have. I never have to worry about that with these two. I couldn't be happier for them."
